PCYC NSW’s Nations of Origin is a community-driven four-day long tournament that was held last month from 12-16 July in Western Sydney.
PCYC Parkes was proud to have teams competing across rugby league, basketball and gymnastics, with our young people representing both their community and culture with pride throughout the week.
The Red Boys Rugby League team narrowly missed a semi-final position, finishing 16th. The Black Boys Rugby League team had an outstanding carnival, finishing 4th on the ladder. The Girls Rugby League team also performed strongly, finishing 10th overall.
While the TeamGym didn’t place, our FREE G athletes achieved fantastic results, bringing home two silver medals. Our basketball boys also had a strong tournament, finishing with three wins and two losses.
While we are proud of the results, the real success of Nations of Origin isn’t measured solely by where teams finish on the ladder.
It’s about the growth of our young people, the friendships they build, the pride they take in representing their community and the connection they strengthen with their culture.
Parkes PCYC Club Manager Kimberley Sherrett said,“Seeing these young people proudly represent their community and strengthen their connection to culture is what makes this program so special.
