Hockey supporters will see some of the State’s best junior and senior hockey players next year when Parkes will host two of the 2018 Field State Championship tournaments at McGlynn Sporting Complex. The Over 50s Men’s Masters and the Under 15s Boys Championships will be held in May and June respectively to make Parkes the only regional town to host two Field State Championship tournaments next year.
Chair of the Sporting Facilities Development Committee, Cr Louise O’Leary said: “We are delighted to have secured two hockey tournaments for 2018, having recently made a significant investment in upgrading the hockey complex to enable Parkes to accommodate larger sporting events.”
The construction of a second hockey turf in 2016 has already delivered many positive benefits to the region by attracting major hockey tournaments and events to Parkes.
