It’s Marnie here, thank you again for taking time to follow my travels in our local paper. Here is a brief overview of my second month in Germany.
On average it has been about 10 degrees so it’s getting warmer! The weather is completely different to Parkes. One day It got to 17 degrees and everyone including myself was so excited to finally be warm. But in Parkes we would all be cheering for 17 degrees as summer gets so hot.
I went to Hamburg with my second host family. It is a three hour train ride from Würzburg, and it was incredible.
We did so many amazing things, such as; walking around the harbour and through the old tunnel, we went to the Elbphilharmonie (famous concert hall in Hamburg) and we even watched a concert there.
We had a shopping day, did a tour around Hamburg and also went on a boat around the harbour. We visited a fossil museum and had a tour around the digging sight of where the fossils were actually found.
I also stumbled upon a Frida Kahlo Cafe in my home town and went there with a friend.
I had so much fun when I went to Frankfurt for the day with my host family. It was amazing. We went to the top of the main tower (it is 200 meters high), went to a shopping mall, sat in the room where the first ever parliament meeting of Germany was held, saw some very cool old buildings and went to a film museum.
We traveled to Wertheim for the day and I explored another castle. I also went to a fare that was in Würzburg
One night I made a delicious Australian dinner of meat and veggie pies, mash potato and veggies for my host family.
And that’s just an overview of some of my amazing adventures.
Thank you, Marnie
