Parkes Rotary Club is the local branch of Rotary International, serving the community of Parkes for over 75 years. Rotary clubs follow a consistent structure, and Parkes Rotary is well-known locally for its community service, events, and charity work.

During the year, the club held many fund raising activities which resulted in $35,000 being donated to local and regional organisations including McGrath Foundation Breast Cancer, Ronald McDonald House Orange, Western Care Lodge Orange, Fred Hollows Foundation, Parkes Uniting Church, Polio Plus, Red Cross, Shelter Box, Trundle School, and many more.

Parkes Rotary Club is a volunteer service organisation made up of local residents who work together on:

• Community projects supporting schools, health services, youth programs, and local charities

• Fundraising events including markets, raffles, and civic celebrations

• Youth programs such as leadership development, scholarships, and international exchange and

• International aid contributing to Rotary’s global initiatives like polio eradication.

At the end of each financial year the Parkes Rotary Club’s Officers are changed and new Officers are inducted to manage the Club for the ensuing 12 months. The Club also distributes the funds received from fund raising activities during that year to charity organisations in Parkes and the Central West and Rotary Projects overseas.

Rotary clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and focused on practical community improvement. Rotary clubs bring together people across generations who wish to create lasting change in their communities.

Joining Rotary means you’ll meet interesting people from your community and around the world. And you’ll tackle local and international issues that are important to you and your fellow club members.

The Parkes Rotary Club currently has 26 members and if your interested in joining you can contact Colin Offner at jancol5@ bigpond.com
