One of the more senior coquet players, Robin Pols hosted the Garden Club meeting this week. Robin is pictured with a beautiful flower from her Wheel tree.

There was beautiful rain this week, hopefully it keeps coming. It was a welcome reprieve for our boys from the watering, our croquet lawns look almost picture perfect.

There were 32 players for Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 25th March. Five players managed to win three games, John Browne, John Farah, Lyn Simmonds and Fay Picker.

Big winers on the day were: 14 – 8 John Farah and John Job, Neville Spry and Alex Todd; 14 – 9 John Browne and Carolyn Neilsen, John Farah and John Job, Kevin Rubie and Lorraine Todd. 

There were 28 players on Tuesday, 28th turn up keen to start. Then the rain came, so it ended up being the winner.

It was a nice summer day for Aussie Croquet on 1st February, where 26 players faced up. Big winners on the day were: 14 – 9 Neville Spry and Robin Pols and 14 -10 Kevin Rubie and Jeff Liebich, SandyHepburn, Colleen Liebich and John Allegri, John Browne and Lyn Simmonds, Peter West and Allan Jones, Neville Spry and Jeff Liebich, Harley Stewart and Robin Pols, Lyn Simmonds and Jill Rubie, Doreen Rogers and John Farah.

Close games on the day were:

The new covered area looks amazing and provides much sought after shade on hot days.

What a great time was had by all when we had 33 players come along to enjoy our Aussie Croquet on a nice chilly morning on Saturday, 4th February. 

There were only two players who managed three games, John Browne and Kevin Rubie. Big winners on the day were 14 – 9 Kevin Rubie and Tony Thomson, Jeff Liebich and Allan Jones, 14 – 10 John Browne and Doreen Rogers, Robin Pols and Noel Jolliffe, John Allegri and Allan Jones, Harley Stewart and Ray Burridge, Peter West and Robin Pols, Kevin Rubie and John Cole, Colleen Liebich and Neville Spry, Marie Spry and Bill Scott, Elvy Quirk and Cheryl Toohey. 

Another fun filled day of competition was had by all on Tuesday, 7th February where we had 32 players for Golf Croquet. It was also part of Seniors week activities. We would like to send a massive thank you to the Forbes Shire Council for their part in supplying us a very good spread for morning tea, two plates of mixed sandwiches, a variety of slices and plate of different fruits, all went down very well, so again a very big thank you. 

There were four players that managed three games John Cole, Kevin Rubie, Neville Spry and another new player, only had a hand full of games Ray Martin – well done. 

Big winners were 10 – 3 John Cole and Rex Toole, 9 – 4 Neville Spry and Bruce Field, Dorelle Scott and John Browne, Kevin Rubie and Ray Burridge, Marie Spry and Evelyn Mahlo , Kevin Rubie and Mal Smith. 

After the game we had our monthly luncheon at the Forbes Golf Club Restaurant, where a delicious, well cooked meal was served. What a great way to enjoy the Seniors Festival week.

A nice light breeze was enjoyed by 32 players at Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 28th January. There were three winners of three games including Colleen Liebich, Merv Langfield and Sandy Hepburn. The big winners on the day were 14-8 John Job and Ray Burridge, Colleen Liebich and Bill Scott and 14 – 9 John Cole and Merv Langfield. 

Another great day on Tuesday, 31st January saw 32 players ready to get started.Six players managed to win three games. They were Geoff Coles, Sandy Hepburn, Noel Jolliffe, Kevin Rubie, Bill Scott and another new player Neil Gilmour. The big winners on the day were 1 – 2 Sandy Hepbun and Tony Thomson, 9 – 4 Bruce Field and Peter West, John Job and Mal Smith, Allan Jones and Neil Gilmour. 

Forbes Croquet Winners

Doreen Rogers joined Forbes Croquet Club in September 2004 and is the longest serving member. Doreen was given the opportunity to cut the cake.

A splendid day had by all playing Golf Croquet

It was another nice sunny day for Golf Croquet on Tuesday, 13th December.

Big winners on the day were Noel Jolliffe 10-3 and Iren Ford 9-4. Other big winnersof the day were Bruce Field, Ray Martinand Allan Jones, Barry White and Ray Martin, May Jones, Iren Ford and Lyal Strudwick, Elvy Quirk and Mal Smith.

Close games on the day were played between:

A wonderful day was had by all 28 players who attended Aussie Croquet on Saturday, 3rd December. Everyone agreed it was a warm and pleasant morning.

On this occasion, five players won three games and they were John Browne, Elvy Quirk, John Farah, Lyn Simmonds and guess who? Robin Pols. A big congratulations to these players. 

Big winners for the day were 14-8 Sandy Hepburn and Tony Thomson, Robin Pols and Lyn Simmonds; 14-9 Lorraine Todd and Barry White, John Browne and Lyne Simmonds, John Browne and Robin Pols. Well done to these players.

The weather remained for another nice warm morning for Golf Croquet, with 29 players enjoying the day’s play.

On this occasion only two players managed three games, and they were May Jones and Sandy Hepburn.

Big winners for the day were: 11-2 Ray Burridge and Mal Smith and 10-3 Ray Burridge and Tony Thomson.

There were too many close games to mention them all.

Croquet Is Back

First of all we would like to thank Forbes Shire Council for getting the croquet courts mowed and ready to play on so soon after the flood waters had gone down. It was so good to get back playing after the awful flood that we had.

We had 29 players for Aussie Croquet on a nice, pleasant morning last Saturday. Six players managed three games: Sandy Hepburn, Lorraine Todd and Tony Thomson, John Farah, Harley Stewart and Neville Spry.

Three Life Members For Croquet

We had 26 players for Aussie Croquet last Saturday. It was good to be back after all the rain and to see a nice sunny day. There were six players who won three games: Sandy Hepburn, John Browne, Merv Langfield, Elvy Quirk, Nevillle Spry and Bill Scott.

BIG WINNERS

14—8 Elvy Quirk and John Job; 14—9 Elvy Quirk and John Browne, Sandy Hepburn and Ray Burridge, John Browne and Alex Todd.

After our games we held our annual general meeting and election of office bearers: President – Elvy Quirk; Vice-President -Kevin Rubie, Secretary – Colleen Liebich;Treasurer – Elvy Quirk; Vice-Treasurer -May Jones; Committee – John Browne,Neville Spry, John Farah, Ray Burridgeand Allan Jones; Publicity Officer – TonyThomson.

Three members were made life members for their untiring work for the club. Congratulations to Elvy Quirk, Neville Spry and John Browne!
