Rain Cancels Croquet

October 28, 2022 By Pegging Out

Rain again won the Day for Aussie Croquet last Saturday.

Then on Tuesday, Council cancelled all games on Council fields.

We have our annual general meeting after Aussie Croquet tomorrow (Saturday, 29th October). If it rains again the meeting will still take place at the club house starting at 10am. All are welcome.

Play will now be starting at 9am. Let’s hope the weather will be kind to us. That’s it for now.

Forbes Croquet Results

September 30, 2022 By Maggi Barnard

We had 25 players for Aussie Croquet on a pleasant semi-overcast Saturday morning with only two players managing three games – Robin Pols and Neville Spry.

Big winners: 14 – 9 Harley Stewart and Dorelle Scott, John Farah, Bob Murray and Joan Littlejohn.

We had 39 players for Golf croquet, which is close to a new record! We had two visitors, Tom Hannon, brother-in-law to Sandy Hepburn, and Wendy Slacksmith, daughter of Merv Langfield, and one new player, Ray Martin.

A few weeks ago, we lost a very special member Libby Smart, she used to set up the courts every morning before play and did a lot of work around the club, she will certainly be missed. At the start of play this morning we held a minute silence for her.

There were 7 players who managed 3 games: Ray Burridge, Kevin Rubie, Vince Roberts, Mal Smith, Bill Scott and again Robin Pols (how does she do it?)

Junior Produces An Ace

September 2, 2022 By Short Putt

Lachlan Alley plucks his ball from the hole after scoring a ‘hole-in-one.’

Junior Forbes golf member Lachlan Alley scored a hole-in-one during competition on the weekend.

There were 63 starters for the Individual Stableford for men on Saturday with Wade Ricthie the division 1 winner with 36 points. Runner-up was Shane Sallaway with 36 points.

Division 2 was won by Lachlan Alley with 36 points, helped along by his hole-in-one which earned him ‘5’ points alone. Runner-up was Matt Duff with 35 points.

The NTP’s went to: 9th – Kim Herbert; 18th – Graham Newport. The 3rd hole super pin went to Lachlan Alley with a shot ‘zero’ metres.

The Ball Sweep went to 30 points on count back, with many scores affected by the sandy greens.

Once again the numbers on Sunday were too few for a Stableford Medley comp, but at least the weather was good.

This weekend the men’s golf competition is the Monthly Medal. Sunday has a Stableford Medley, and the Inaugural ‘Naggers Cup’ at Condobolin.

Do not forget the ‘Roylances Ambrose Day’ on Saturday, 10th September. Get your nominations into the Pro Shop.
