2023 Club Championships

October 26, 2023 By Roxane Manley

Great to see so many winners at the presentation. Thanks to Terry Bros as major sponsors

In the A grade scratch our 2 premier young golfers kicked off the event in great style with Jack Elliott carding a 2 over par 74 to be chased in by Aaron Wilkie with a 75. Jack got out early in the morning and put the target there for the rest of the field to fire at. With a strong northerly blowing the big hitters in the club made short work of the down wind holes. Aaron hit off mid morning and came in with a 75 and playing partner and longtime contender Riall Harrison hit a solid 77. The other major finishers were Wayne Parker with a sterling 80 and Charlie Kaehler, Stephen Riley and Michael Thomas all carding 82’s. In the net Peter Bristol was the surprise leader with a 69, followed in by the guns in Jack Elliott, Riall Harrison and Michael Thomas.

Round 2 was contested on Sunday with the temperatures down and the prevailing wind from the west and occasionally south west, this gave all the indications of the scoring heating up.

In the A grade scratch event Jack Elliott continued his march forward with another excellent 75 but the chasers had changed with Michael Dumesny and Anthony Riach to the fore with a 76, 77 respectively. Wayne Parker and Aaron Wilkie were next best on 80. In the net event Anthony won the day with his 70 on a countback from Wayne Powter. So this leaves Jack 5 strokes in front of Aaron going into the last 2 rounds and whilst not insurmountable it will take all of Aaron’s skills to bridge the gap.

Head to Pioneer this Saturday for Round 5 of the WWRL

October 26, 2023 By Roxane Manley

Footy kicks off at 9.30 am – Under 12s, 10.30 – Under 14s, 11.40 – Under 16s, 12.50 – Under 18s and the Open women’s
team kick off at 2pm.

The Lachlan District Womans Rugby league Club have made a successful debut this season into the Western Women’s Rugby League Competition and everyone is encouraged to come along and enjoy a big day packed full of games and see some amazing local female talent in action this Saturday at Pioneer Oval in Parkes. Games in Parkes this Saturday kick off at 9.30 am

Last weekend the club travelled to dubbo and had a lot of hard and physical games, however the 18s came out on top and remain undefeated and on top of the table. Stevie Jackson of Forbes said “Our u18s side is full of amazing talent young talent with Georgie Coote being named for the second year in a row to South Sydney Rabbitohs Tarsha Gale Side, Tegan Smede being signed to Illawarra Steelers for Tarsha Gale, Liz MacGregor to Roosters Tarsha Gale and all 3 girls also play in our opens side as well”.

Star player Elizabeth MacGregor told us “We went into the season with low numbers and not knowing what it would look like for us as a whole new club and a team made up of girls from all seperate teams in the comp but we have really come together as a team and had some tough wins. Defeating Woodbrige, Vipers and Goannas which seem to be the top teams in the comp has been a huge effort. We have a strong forward pack and a quick back line and just skilful players across the whole team. Definitely exciting to be undefeated so far especially for a debut season as a new club.

Danielle McDonald – 2023 Australian Off Road Champion X3

October 19, 2023 By Roxane Manley

Danielle McDonald is a three time Australian Off Road Champion, Australian MX Champion, and four time Hattah Desert Race Champion.

Local Parkes girl Danielle McDonald has just secured her third Australian Off Road Championship. What a way for Danielle to finish off her impressive racing career in the junior ranks.

Danielle said, “My very last junior race, I’m sad to say my junior years have come to an end. I have learnt and achieved a lot throughout juniors but I am overall excited to start a new chapter in my racing journey in the women’s class!

“A massive thanks to my family, team, sponsors and everyone in my corner wouldn’t be where I am without any of you”.

Endruo GP In Portugal

Earlier in October Danielle got her first taste racing in the senior women division in her first endruo GP in Portugal, experiencing some very hot and dry conditions.

Danielle reported, “The trials and tests were gnarly! Definitely one to remember. I raced my first supertest on Friday night. I was the first rider on track and opened alone, I had nerves I have never experienced before. I ended the night with a P6 leading into the next day.

“Race day nerves were just as high but pushed through. The other three tests I really enjoyed and started to pull some pretty good results. Coming top three in most and even winning a couple of them.

“Sunday was a better day for me. I was running third all day, then unfortunately a mechanical issue in the sand test caused me to lose all back brake, and a heap of time. Still really happy to come away with 4th overallfor the day.

Now To Get Ready For The ISDE 6 Days

Danielle is now preparing to race the International Six-Day Endruo which runs from 6th to 11th November in San Juan, Argentina, South America. The ISDE is one of the most prestigious events on the offroad calendar in motorcycle racing. The Team Aus women have won 6x World ISDE titles. Representing Australia will be Tayla Jones and Jessica Gardiner, who have both been part of the previous six wins, but the newest member of the Australian Women’s Team is Danielle McDonald who dominated the Junior motocross and offroad racing for years.

The Results for the Daily comp run in conjunction with the Championships, sponsored by Pool Magic, are:
