The Bogan Gate Golf Club celebrated on Tuesday after its successful application for funding through the 2018 Community Building Partnership Program.
The club with the assistance of Member for Orange, Phil Donato, received $7,000 to be utilised for a kitchen and bathroom refurbishment to enhance the facilities of the venue that plays a very important part in the social life of the small community.
Club spokesperson Marion McIntyre, and her husband Robert, who have been involved with the club for 30 years, said the committee was continually working to host events at the venue. “A new kitchen will be an important boon for catering purposes.”
“This is the last remaining sporting venue in the community and our volunteers work very hard to keep it going,” she said.
“With everything that has been happening with the drought we have welcomed this good news which will go a long way to reinvigorate everyone.”
“The flat pack kitchen has already arrived so it is now just a matter of co-ordinating the tradesman, and we hope to have it functional in around four weeks.”
