The final major golf championship event of the year for both the men and ladies will be contested this Sunday. The men play the final round of the Dixon Physiotherapy sponsored 36 hole titles in both the championship and consolation sections, while the ladies play their 27 hole event in the same sections with titles sponsored by Betta Home Living and Network Video.
The men already played the first round last weekend. Peter Dixon and John Green are halfway leaders after a superb opening round of 4 over par 75. They enjoy a 3 shot lead over Phil Barnard and Denis Howard, while Lachlan Buesnell and Cameron Butler are a further shot away. In the Consolation Section, Tony Hendry and Peter Bristol lead Michael Smith and Wayne Parker by 6 shots and appear likely to win their first title.
In the Ladies 27 hole Foursomes both divisions will have the defending champions attempting to retain their mantle.
In the Championship section, defending titleholders sisters Lynne Guise and Kaye Jones will be hard to toss with the major challengers being reigning Club Champion Cherrie Phillips and Glynis Conroy. In the Network Video Consolation section a period of inactivity by the reigning titleholders Judy McCabe and Leone Stevenson
could haunt them despite the fact that they received a favourable draw. Consistency will pave the way for Colleen Staples and Dawn Wakefield to take the title.
