The Eugowra Rifle Club held a successful ‘come and try me day’ last week at the Sunnyside Rifle Range with several potential new members from Parkes, Cowra and Grenfell experiencing what fullbore rifle shooting is all about.
Despite glorious conditions, a constantly changing south-west to south-east breeze blowing into shooters faces were less than ideal for good scoring at 600 yards, catching out even the most experienced shooters.
Scores were:
• Target Rifle A grade: Ian Ward 48-2, 49-3 – 97-5; David Jolly 45-3, 46-2 – 91-5.
• Target Rifle B grade: John Bray 41-1 one stage only.
• Target Rifle C grade: John Farquhar 45-1, 46-1 – 91-2; Adam Wild 39-0 one stage only.
• F Standard B grade: Christian Martin 53-0, 51-2 – 104-2; Peter Harris 46-0, 56-3 – 102-3; Alan Noble 50-0, 52-1 – 102-1; Sarah Meyer 23-0 one stage only.
• F Open: James Maloy 49-0, 55-4 – 104-4; Wes Robinson 50-2, 52-3 – 102-5; Tony Leonard 48-1, 48-0 – 96-1.
The Eugowra Rifle Club extends an open invitation to anyone interested to come and try the sport on any weekend. Rifles, ammunition and experienced club members are always on hand to provide tuition and pass on knowledge.
Shooting starts at 1:30pm, firing two stages of ten shots each at a total cost of approximately $30. Contacting David
Jolly after hours on 6863 5575.
