Blue Night for Men’s Cancer: The Trundle Testicle Festival takes place on Friday, 31st August at the Trundle Services & Citizens Club from 6pm in aid of prostate cancer. More men die of prostate cancer than women die of breast cancer. Donations of raffle and auctions items are welcomed. Safety Issues: The Staysafe Committee of the NSW Parliament is seeking expressions of interest from the community on issues to be explored in the next Parliament. “We receive many emails, letters and phone calls from people alerting us to issues which they believe deserve more attention,” said Greg Aplin, chair of the committee.
Staysafe undertook four public inquiries in the 56th Parliament: motorcycle safety, driverless cars, driver education and training, and heavy vehicle safety technology. World Record Attempt: There may already be Guinness World Records for sculptures made from cheese, chocolate, Lego and balloons, but Parkes Christian School needs your help to set a world record for the largest book sculpture to celebrate the joy of lifelong learning. “Literacy is such a vital part of learning, so we really want to celebrate the importance of literature in our world,” said principal Glen Westcott. The world record attempt will be made at Parkes Christian School’s Spring Fair on Saturday, 15th September from 9am to 2pm. If you are interested in donating books for the sculpture, you can bring them on the day of the Spring Fair or drop them into the school beforehand.

Driest July Since Millennium Drought: Australia has been hit with its driest month since 2002, along with experiencing the second hottest July on record (for mean maximum temperatures reaching 2.22 °C above average). The latest Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) report shows it was the driest July nationwide in 16 years, with below
average rainfall recorded across mainland Australia.
