Spacecats Triumph Over Dubbo

July 28, 2016 By Maggi Barnard

Spacecats1

The Parkes Spacecats reigned 20 – 0 over Dubbo’s Westside when the final bell went in Round 11 of the Group XI competition last weekend. The 2015 premieres had to work hard from the Spacecats’ kick off. A great catch by Brittany Dunesny gave Parkes first touch of the ball, and with quick hands they make ground, but the wet field complicated the kick.

Hard work from Ella-J Harris sees Parkes within 20m and allows Brittney Ryan to open the tally. Ella-J and Demi managed to break through the Westside defence, but a turnover occurs and Westside kicks for touch. It does not find the sideline and Emma Bayley adds another four in the far corner.

Demi Winter uses a Westside kick to the sideline to put pedal to the metal and goes over beside the posts for Parkes’ 3rd try. With the Spacecats wanting more they keep Westside in their half, which works well for Emma Bayley to score her second and bring the half time score to 16 – 0. After half time a Spacecat error, sees Westside 15 come within inches of scoring, but the Parkes’ girls turned up the heat to push them back to were they started. Sally Dwyer and Demi Winter made great tags, while Sam Cox found the score line to take Parkes to 20. The Spacecats defended well when required to deny Westside any points on the day.

The Parkes Spacemen executive and the league tag team would like to thank their major guernsey sponsor Parkes Services Club and sleeve sponsors 1. Simply Bellissima by Kim, 2. Cunninghams IGA Parkes, 3. Nicko’s Bricklaying, 4. Parkes GP, 5. Bunnamagoo Wines, 6. BMJC (The Moran boy’s), 7. La Bella, 8. Dippin Dots, 9. Parkes Mensland, 10. THD Studio, 11.
