Club Championship Triples Final On Tuesday

The second round of the Club Championship Triples was played on Tuesday. Merilyn Rodgers, Marja Iffland and Maree Grant defeated Lorraine Baker, Maureen Miller and Kim Evans, while Cherie Frame, Gwenda Carty and Rhona Went defeated Minnie Riordan, Audrey Jones and Joan Simpson.

The final will be played next week, between Merilyn Rodgers, Marja Iffland and Maree Grant vs Cherie Frame, Gwenda Carty and Rhona Went.

In social triples Di Greenhalgh, Hilda Pherson and Rosemary Mitchell defeated Di Howell, Eileen Bradley and Brenda Davies.

In a pairs game Chris Cox and Margaret Hawken defeated Jean Kennedy and Flo Riseborough. Winners for the day were Merilyn, Marja and Maree. There will be a committee meeting on Tuesday, 1st August at 1.30pm. New shirts
and jackets must be ordered with Brenda by Tuesday please.

The Classic Triples will be held at the Club on 19th and 20th August. Entries open now. Teams from several towns will be playing with excellent bowls expected, a great day of bowling to watch.

In the First Round of the Club Championship triples Minnie Riordan, Audrey Jones, Joan Simpson defeated Betsy Johnstone, Brenda Davies, Liz Byrne 16 – 13. Merilyn Rodgers, Marja Iffland, Maree Grant defeated Flo Riseborough, Eileen Bradley, Rosemary Mitchell 21 – 17.

In the next round Cherie Frame, Gwenda Carty, Rhona Went verse Minnie Riordan, Audrey Jones, Joan Simpson.
Lorraine Baker, Maureen Miller, Kim Evans verse Merilyn Rodgers, Marja Iffland, Maree Grant.

In two other games of social triples Valmai Westcott, Margaret Hawken, Kim Evans defeated Chris Curteis, Frances Charlton, Gwenda Carty. Chris Cox, Maureen Miller, Rhona Went defeated Lorraine Baker, Hilda McPherson, Cherie Frame.

The Trading Table and Shared lunch was attended by several members and many prizes were won. The Raffle was won by Lorraine Heald and winners on the day were Chris, Maureen, Rhona. To play social bowls please ring Table

Four games of triples were played with Jean Kennedy, Marja Iffland, Gwenda Carty defeating Di Greenhalgh, Kim Evans, Minnie Riordan.

Betsty Johnstone, Eileen Bradley, Flo Riseborough defeated Betsy Johnstone, Maureen Miller, Hilda McPherson.

Chris Curteis, Merilyn Rodgers, Liz By- rne defeated Isabella Svendsen, Margaret Hawken, Audrey Jones.

Di Howell, Rosemary Mitchell, Rhona Went defeated Chris Cox, Lorraine Baker, Joan Simpson.

Winners for the day were Jean, Marja and Gwenda.

The AGM was held and the new President is Merilyn Rodgers, Vice-President Min- nie Riordan, Secretary Isabella Svendsen. Committee: Margaret Hawken, Eileen Brad- ley, Joan Simpson, Maureen Miller, Lorraine

It was a cool, crisp day for bowls with three games of triples played.

Eileen Bradley, Merilyn Rodgers, Robyn Morgan defeated Maureen Miller, Flo Rise- borough, Audrey Jones/Minnie Riordan.

Lorraine Baker, Rosemary Mitchell, Joan Simpson defeated Di Howell, Valmai Westcott, Liz Byrne.

Jean Kennedy, Cherie Frame, Rhona Went defeated Di Greenhalgh, Frances Charlton, Kim Evans.

Winners for the day were Lorraine, Rosemary and Joan.

In the District Fours played at Cowra, Min- nie Riordan, Robyn Morgan, Audrey Jones, Joan Simpson were the Runner ups in a great day of bowls.

Forbes on Thursday 6th July. Players are encouraged to arrive by 9.15am, play will commence at 10am, followed by a picnic lunch.

The teams are as follows; Chris Curteis, Maureen Miller and Rosemary Mitchell. Is- abel Svendsen, Merilyn Rodgers and Bren- da Davies. Eileen Bradley, Valmai Westcott and Betsy Johnstone.

Beautiful weather conditions saw several members play bowls.

In a triples game Isabel Svendsen, Flo Riseborough and Gwenda Carty defeated Merilyn Rodgers, Rosemary Mitchell and Robyn Morgan.

Eileen Bradley, Margaret Hawken and Betsy Johnstone defeated Chris Curteis, Valmai Westcott and Joan Simpson.

Hilda McPherson and Rhona Went defeated Minnie Riordan and Audrey Jones.

Di Greenhalgh and Brenda Davies defeated Di Howell and Francis Charlton.

Next week teams will play in the CWD Fours to be held at Cowra.

The Trading Table was a great success and many prizes were won. Raffle winner was Gwenda Carty. Winners for the day were Eileen, Margaret and Betsy. Runners- up were Merilyn, Rosemary and Robyn.

The Minor Pairs will close June 20th. The AGM will be held 11th July at 1.30pm.

Beautiful autumn weather prevailed for one game of pairs played with Maureen Baillee and Frances Charlton defeating Flo Rise- borough and Minnie Riordan.

One game of consistency was played with Merilyn Rodgers first, Di Howell second and, Maureen Miller third. Other bowlers have been competing in the CWD pairs at Railway Diggers this week.

Nominations for CWD triples close today. The Number 2 Pennant players will be play- ing in the district playoffs at Dubbo on 30th and 31st May.

Pairs And Singles Champs In Parkes

Rhona Went and Liz Byrne are the new Parkes Women’s Bowling Club pairs cham- pions after defeating Maree Grant and Elaine Miller in the final on Tuesday.

In the CWD singles played last week the winner was Pat Cooney who defeated Col- leen Crump from Canowindra in a nail biting final. Pat now goes on to play the other dis- tricts in Blayney.

In the second tier Gwynneth Rice Trophy, another great final was played between Gwen Haydon from Canowindra and Robyn Morgan from Parkes. Gwen took home the Gwynneth Rice trophy, presented by grand- daughter Emma Rice and great grand- daughter Clara Rice.

Rhona Went and Liz Byrne (right) beat Elaine Miller and Maree Grant in the bowling pairs final on Tuesday.

Two games of triples were played with Maureen Miller, Marja Iffland and Rose- mary Mitchell defeating Di Greenhalgh, Frances Charlton and Audrey Jones.

Kate Keogh, Hilda McPherson and Flo Riseborough defeated Valmai Westcott, Ei- leen Bradley and Minnie Riordan.

The Minor Singles are open until 2nd May. A Mother’s Day competition will be held on 2nd May, please put your name on the board to play and wear something pink.

CWD Pairs will be played 8th-10th May at Parkes Railway. CWD Triples will be played 5th – 7th June at Forbes and close May 12th.

Two games of social bowls were played with Maureen Miller, and Kim Evans defeating Minnie Riordan and Joan Simpson. In a triples game Laurie Keane, Eileen Bradley and Hilda McPherson defeated Frances Charlton, Lorraine Baker and Rosemary Mitchell. In the club pairs Brenda Davies, and Betsy Johnstone defeated Gwenda Carty and Cherie Frame, while Rhona Went and Liz Byrne defeated Margaret Hawken, and Audrey Jones.

In the next round, Brenda Davies, and Betsy Johnstone will play Rhona Went and Liz Byrne; Minnie Riordan and Joan Simpson will play Elaine Miller and Maree Grant. Nominations for CWD Pairs close 7th April. There will be no social bowls next week as the CWD Singles will be played.
