At the AGM of the Parkes Women’s Bowling Club held this week Merilyn Rodgers (left) was elected president. Parkes Bowls…
Twenty bowlers took part in five games of pairs at the Parkes Bowling and Sports Club last Thursday. Steve Clegg and John Davies 26 defeated Rob Irving and Matthew Parker 13. Ray Jones and Steve Mills 16 defeated John Dunn and John Corcoran 13. Gordon Dickson and Gary Phillips 27 defeated Ian Simpson and John Ward 14.
Geoff Leonard and Greg Howlett winning 15 of the 21 ends smashed John Watson and Geoff Freeman 30 to 9. Greg Huggins and Col Hayward 20 defeated Jim Blake and Tom Fury 19. Another very close game Bill Skinner and John Dunn 19 defeated Bob Freeman and Colin Mudie 17. Winners were Steve Clegg and John Davies, and runners-up Ray Jones and Steve Mills.
On Saturday 30 bowlers took part – six were involved in two championship matches and 24 played social bowls. In the championship matches singles game Steve Turner beat John Watson 31 to 13. The other pairs games between Tom Casey and Gary Carberry and Paul and Michael Went saw Garry and Tom winning 26 to 16.
On Sunday two championship matches were played. In the major triples Tony Riordan, Bruce Orr and Steve Ryan 27 defeated Rob Irving, John Ward and Arthur Corbett 13. Zone 4 singles championships start on 7th July.

Parkes Women’s Bowling
Our members enjoyed a social day of bowls with a very challenging wind making conditions difficult, but lots of fun.
A game of scroungers with Maureen Miller, Di Howell and Merilyn Rodgers was played with Maureen the winner. In a pairs game Lorraine Baker and Brenda Davies defeated Marja Iffland and Minnie Riordan.
The triples game went to Jan McPhee, Eileen Bradley and Rhona Went who played Lea Orr, Heather Harvey and Kim Evans. Our next Trading Table will be held next week on the 19th June. Nominations for club triples open on
26th June so get your teams organised. All members are eligible to play so enter and enjoy the competition.
Our AGM will be held on 3rd July at 1:30pm.

Women’s Bowling Morning Tea
An amazing day was had by members and guests who attended our Biggest Morning Tea this week. President, Merilyn Rodgers made a speech about one person’s journey with cancer and we raised an amazing grand total of $810. There was also birthday cake for Pam MacRae enjoyed by all.
In pairs games Rosemary Mitchell, Margaret Hawken defeated Kay Craft, Kim Evans; and Lea Orr, Flo Riseborough defeated Isabel Svendsen, Brenda Davies.
The triples games were won by Jan McPhee, Di Greenhalgh, Elaine Miller versus Di Howell, Chris Cox, Gwenda Carty; and Hilda McPherson, Vi West, Joan Simpson defeated Eileen Bradley, Minnie Riordan, Robyn Morgan. R Sant, Frances Charlton, Maree Grant beat June Burgess, Chris Curteis, Cherie Frame. Betsy Johnstone, Lorraine Baker, Evelyn Gibson defeated Marja Iffland, Heather Harvey, Ann McIntyre. Winners for the day were Hilda, Violet and Joan and runners-up Isabel and Brenda. Winners in the lucky cups were Di Howell, Joan Simpson and Elvie Collins.
The CWD Triples will be held next week at Parkes Railway.

Women’s Bowls
Several bowlers enjoyed the beautiful weather this week and had a great day of bowling. In triples games Heather Harvey, Rhona Went and Gwenda Carty defeated Flo Riseborough, Kim Evans and Rosemary Mitchell.
Frances Charlton, Di Howelland Hilda McPherson defeated Eileen Bradley, Lorraine Baker and Cherie Frame, while Merilyn Rodgers, Margaret Hawken and Audrey Jones beat Minnie Riordan, Isabel Svendsen and Maureen Baillee.
Other winners were Liz Byrne and Maureen Miller defeating Brenda Davies and Marja Iffland.
Winners on the day were Frances, Di and Hilda. Hilda also won the raffle. The CWD pairs will be played at our club
on 4th and 5th May, and there will be social bowls on Tuesday.
Our Trading Table will be held on 22nd May with a Big Morning Tea to be held in support of Cancer research. Bring a pretty cup, saucer and plate along. We will also celebrate a special birthday for Pam McRae.

Parkes Women’s Bowling Club
Two games were played on Tuesday, with a triples game played by Di Howell, Betsy Johnstone and Maureen Baillee, who defeated Isabel Svendsen, Hilda McPherson and Audrey Jones in a close game 16-15.
In a pairs game, Merilyn Rodgers and Frances Charlton defeated Maureen Miller and Kate Keogh.
The CWD Singles are being played at Forbes with several of our members playing. The 2nd Round of Club Pairs will be played on the 17th April. A Trading Table will also be held on the 17th April, and the Mother’s Day raffle will be drawn, so get your tickets and win a great prize.
The CWD Pairs and Senior Pairs will be played at our club on the 7th-9th May. Please volunteer your time to help with catering, raffles etc. The old adage “many hands make light work” applies to these events and makes the day enjoyable for all.

3rd April 2018
The first round of the Club Championship pairs were played today with Margaret Hawken and Audrey Jones defeating Chris Curteis and Frances Charlton. Kim Evans and Elaine Miller defeated Merilyn Rodgers and Rosemary Mitchell.
The next round will be played on 17th April as the CWD Singles will be played next week at Forbes. Good Luck to our
members playing.

The No 4 Pennant team played the Railway Diggers Club this week and were defeated 40 – 30 losing both games.
